Undated (ca. 1785) Bar Copper. W-8520. Rarity-4. EF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).
A classic early American type, offered here at a more affordable price point. This is still a sharp and desirable example, however, and we stress the complete USA monogram on the obverse and crisp bars on the reverse as leading strong suits. The surfaces are rough with considerable granularity overall, the reverse also with earthen encrustation nestled within the bars. A few marks on the later side are also noted, but none are worthy of individual attention. Demand for this type has increased exponentially in recent decades, and with many collectors now priced out of higher grade levels, we anticipate considerable interest in this EF Details offering.
