1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 37.4-k.1, W-4115. Rarity-3. Draped Bust Left. AU-50 (PCGS).
138.0 grains. A superior example of the die pairing, with nice olive-green and brown colors to both sides. Obverse and reverse a bit microgranular with very minor roughness in the center on the former side and around the branch hand on the latter. Some light flaws, the most significant of which engages the letter C in AUCTORI, another in the opposing area on the reverse, although neither is really significant. Late obverse die state, sinking in the center, incuse date numerals visible along the border at upper right. This certainly rivals the best seen for this Miller number, and is certainly (far) superior to anything recorded in our online auction archives.
PCGS# 687368. NGC ID: 2B2X.
