1782 Frisian Recognition of American Independence Medal. Betts-602. Silver. MS-62 (PCGS).
44 mm. A second high grade example of this popular and historic medal, symbolizing the recognition of the new American nation by the Dutch state of Frisia. Olive-blue and antique gold undertones subtly emerge from iridescent copper-gray surfaces. Reflective and lustrous on both sides, more attractive than typical specimens of this Betts number. Some truly trivial hairlines are seen, mentioned here solely for accuracy. This is an especially pleasing specimen of one of the most notable medals from the days following the end of hostilities in the era of the American Revolution.
