(Ca. 1790) Benjamin Franklin portrait intaglio by Tassie (?). Pale green glass paste. 14 x 18 mm.

Full facing bust of Franklin in intaglio on face. Blank back half clear, half frosted. Large chip from back, but portrait and eye appeal are unaffected. Mr. Margolis was certain of neither the Franklin attribution nor the Tassie attribution. The image looks like Franklin to your cataloger.

From the Richard Margolis Collection. Earlier from Sotheby Parke Bernet's (Perth) Scone Palace sale, April 1976, lot 143.
