PERU. 1/4 Real, 1822. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield.
KM-135. One year type. Struck during Peru's war for independence where the capital city of Lima changed hands between the Republicans and Royalist several times. The war finally ended when the last royalist stronghold, the fortress of Real Felipe, surrendered in 1826. An interesting time in Peruvian history. Attractive patina.
