MEXICO. Peso, 1879-Cn D. Culiacan Mint. NGC MS-62.
Fr-160; KM-410.2. A crudely produced RARE date which displays several areas of incompleteness around the edge dentils as well as some pebbling from die rust in the fields surrounding the 1 in the denomination. Despite the apparent crudeness, rather choice for the issue, with a sharp strike and limited handling in the gleaming, reflective fields. Presently only surpassed by a single MS-63 in the NGC census and the finest we've seen offered at public auction, the next finest being an ICG-graded MS-61 that brought $1,750 hammer in a 2008 auction.
