Description

IRAN. Order of Pahlavi, Instituted 1925. EXTREMELY FINE.

Barac-102 & 103; Werlich-703 & 704. 2 pieces in set. Includes the Badge with its sash, the Star, and original case. The highest-ranking order of Iran, awarded to members of the royal family and crown princes of foreign nations. The Badge measures 65.4 mm and has its complete complement of enamels - although the gold enamel paint representing the sun and sun-rays around Mt. Demavand shows some wear. The sash is approximately 105 x 1400 mm in deep blue edged in gold. The Star has one hinged and two fixed tunic pins and is 95.0 mm at its widest, and has some slight expertly repaired damage to the white enamel ring and the blue rays. The white enamel ring shows some evidence of scuffing and - as on the badge - the gold of the sun and its rays shows some deterioration. The Star bears the .800 obus mark of the French jeweler Arthus Bertrand & Co. The compartmented case is in green leather, deep green velour, and white satin and bears an embossed Iranian crest on the outside and the name of the Jeweler (Arthus Bertrand / Paris) on the interior satin. VERY RARE and a truly spectacular set.

From the Collection of Dr. James Eustace Bizzell, II.
