JULIUS CAESAR. AV Aureus (8.07 gms), Rome Mint, ca. 46 B.C. NGC AU, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.

Calico-36; Cr-466/1; S-1395; Syd-1017. Moneyer A. Hirtius. "C. CAESAR COS. TER", veiled head of Vesta (Pietas?) right; Reverse: "A. HIRTIVS PR", lituus, capis and axe (pontificate and augurate emblems). Good centering on a somewhat broad flan. Nicely struck allowing for full legends and designs (only losing some of the beaded borders). Light attractive tone with soft satin underlying luster and quite attractive.
