GERMANY. Regensburg. 4 Ducat, 1664-HF. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield.
Fr-2479; KM-173. 13.85 grams. Obverse (placed as reverse in holder): Ornate oval city arms with divided date on outsides of crossed keys, legend: "MONETA REIPVBLICAE RATISBONENSIS"; Reverse (facing forward in holder): Crown, orb above nimbate imperial eagle holding sword and scepter, legend: "LEOPOLDVS. D.G. ROM. IMP. SEM. AVG." A broad and impressive issue which combines a majestic design and significant RARITY. Stunningly preserved as well, the designs are fully impressed and the surfaces retain significant brilliance due to the alluring gleam in the fields. Close inspection reveals no marks that demand attention, although mostly hidden evidence of a prior misaligned strike can been spotted along several portions of the far edges. In this delightful quality, undoubtedly among the finest that exist of this elusive denomination and as such, deserving of placement in an elite cabinet.
