62.42 g (2oz) of .9999 Fine Silver. 38.61mm. This is a beautiful and impressive jewel featuring a dazzling Proof finish. It was issued as part of the Royal Tudor Beasts series, which takes inspiration from the centuries-old tradition of mythical beasts representing the values and traits of a kingdom. Heraldic creatures originally appeared on flags and banners on the battlefield to unite and direct armies and strike fear into the enemy. The Lion of England featured on this coin is the first of the ten heraldic creatures that stand guard over the moat outside Hampton Court Palace in the form of fearsome statues. This piece is #5 of only 6 such coins from the Trial of the Pyx offering.
