KM-224; Jovel-Type VIII. Issued by decree of July 1894, commencing 10 August 1894 until early 1895. Countermark: 1/2 Real currency dies with Peso collar. Applied to a 1888-LIMA TF Peru Republic Peso (KM-196). With later added chopmarks in East Asia. An EXTREMELY RARE type found with chopmarks (土 [Tu] and 同 [Tong]), and only the third example we have been able to confirm. This nicely preserved and attractive example displays lovely rich gray patina with a slight iridescent sheen on the obverse. While the reverse offers a beautiful assortment of a iridescent hues adding to its pleasing appearance. Wholly original looking with good eye appeal, this handsome is sure to catch the attention of many advanced collectors.
