1859 Octagonal 25 Cents. BG-705. Rarity-6+. Liberty Head. MS-64 (PCGS).
Lustrous deep orange gold with blushes of reddish-rose and heavy mint frost on both sides. Typical strike for the type, central weakness present on both sides, much of DOLLAR and the date faint to absent. Struck from a heavily clashed obverse die with bold details of the reverse wreath encircling Liberty. A nice opportunity to obtain a rare Period II variety from the firm of Frontier, Diviercy & Co., active circa 1853 to 1864.
PCGS# 10532. NGC ID: 2BMF.
