Description

1852-O Liberty Head Double Eagle. Winter-1, the only known dies. AU-55 (NGC).

Bright medium gold surfaces are predominantly lustrous with a pleasing satin texture. Sharply struck by early New Orleans Mint standards, this Choice AU is also generally free of individually distracting abrasions. One of the finer coins to exist of this date and mint, especially so as Mint State coins are not only quite rare, but prohibitively priced for most specialists.
