1922 No D Lincoln Cent. FS-401, Die Pair II. Strong Reverse. EF-45 BN (NGC). CAC.
A scarce key issue in the Lincoln cent series in a popular collector grade. Rich, deep brown patina supports a delicate steely overtone. A few stray ticks from its time in circulation are noted, none serious enough to preclude CAC-approval. Only the Denver Mint struck cents in 1922. During the production run a few dies became filled with grease and other detritus, filling in the mintmark on the obverse making this look as though it were minted in Philadelphia. Given a separate listing in the Guide Book, the 1922 No D is a must to complete any set.
