1908 Indian Eagle. No Motto. MS-63+ (PCGS).
Beautiful medium gold surfaces reveal tinges of orange-apricot iridescence as the coin rotates under a light. Sharply struck for the type with a full endowment of billowy mint frost. After the 1911-D, and discounting the Wire Rim and Rounded Rim issues of 1907, the 1908 No Motto is the lowest mintage issue in the circulation strike Indian eagle series. Yet despite the fact that just 33,500 pieces were produced, this issue is only moderately scarce by the standards of the type. Most Uncirculated examples are confined to the MS-60 to MS-63 grade range, however, which fact confirms the conditionally scarce status of the coin offered here.
