1851-C Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter-1. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC.
Lovely deep honey-gold color with intermingled pale olive tinting. Both sides are uncommonly well defined for the issue with most major design elements bold. Lustrous for the grade with modest semi-reflectivity on an otherwise frosty mint finish. Despite a mintage of 49,176 coins struck, the 1851-C is a median rarity in this series alongside the 1855-C and 1859-C. Lightly circulated examples with the quality and eye appeal offered here are particularly elusive and always in demand.
