Description
1843-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 9-F. Small D. EF-40 (PCGS).
The 1843 Small D variety is much scarcer than its Medium D counterpart, from the same date and mint. To date (5/12/2023), PCGS has graded 271 examples of the Medium D type, but only 5 Small D pieces. This is a lovely EF coin with warm, even, honey-olive color that attests to its originality. Sure to appeal to advanced Southern gold variety collectors.
