DENMARK. Copenhagen. Speciedaler, 1846-VS. Christian VIII. PCGS EF-45.
KM-720.1. Surfaces of uniform argent gray with hints of champagne grace this piece. An example of the Germanic Wild Man motif migrating beyond the borders; Christian VIII came from the House of Oldenburg whose arms are portrayed on the reverse and ruled Denmark since the mid-16th century. Attractive and an interesting glimpse into 19th century political dynamics.
From the Robert C. Knepper Collection.
