MEXICO. Chilpanzingo and Morelos. War of Independence. 8 Reales, ND (1811-14). PCGS Genuine--Tooled, Fine Details.
KM-285.2. Morelos (Type A) and Congress of Chilpanzingo (Type A) countermarks on cast 1810-Mo HJ 8 Reales of Ferdinand VII (KM-110). An extensively tooled but quite charming example of this dually-countermarked insurgent type. While details of both are clear, the Morelos counterstamp was applied forcefully enough to give the coin a cupped form and impart bold details. Deep pewter toning helps conceal the tooling and gives the piece additional charm.
