MEXICO. Zacatecas. War of Independence. 1/2 Real, 1811. Ferdinand VII. PCGS Genuine--Bent, AU Details.
KM-181; Cal-481; Ramirez-ZM.1.2. Type 2 with castles and lions. Struck in the brief period between the royalist recapture of Zacatecas but before the switch to portrait types, this "L.V.O." minor is quite SCARCE. While the bent planchet and off-center reverse strike allude to the tumultuous period for which this provisional coinage was produced, its details remain delightfully crisp overall with excellent legibility. Rather bright and argent, this piece makes a wonderful representative of the type.
