MEXICO. Cob 1/2 Real, ND (1541-42)-oMo oPo. Mexico City Mint. Carlos & Johanna. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details.
KM-6; Cal-44; Nesmith-23. Weight: 1.39 gms. Early Series. A great example of this RARE type from the earliest days of the Mexico City mint. Despite some localized roughness and its rather irregular planchet, all of its pertinent details are displayed clearly, including the mintmark, monarchs' and assayer's initials, and the abbreviated motto between the pillars. Faint hairlines on the devices suggest a light cleaning in the past, but the coin has a mottled gray tone overall that conveys great originality.
