The November 15, 1878 British Journal of Photography notes that a medal was awarded at the photographic exhibition to Mr. James William Thomas Cadett who patented a pneumatic lens cap, noting that "it is one of the most ingenious of the many ingenious mechanical inventions made in connection with photography..." Mr. Cadett's medal offers uniform milk-chocolate surfaces and no abrasions other than a small nick on the prince's neck. A desirable medal for both its style, state of preservation, and documented linkage to its specific recipient.
