Obverse: A draped woman at right, facing left, holds an infant and shields two small children from a personification of death at left; anepigraphic save for the signature; Reverse: Perimeter legend inside of rim - ASSISTANCE A L'ENFANCE DÉBILE - STEUN AAN HET ZWAKKE KIND -, three-line legend in field - ANVERS / 15 NOVEMBRE/ 1915, rim inscribed À MONSIEUR EUGENE LE DOCTE SECTION AIDE ET PROTECTION AUX OEUVRES DE L'ENFANCE DU COMITÉ NATIONAL 1915; Edge: FONSON & Co. The obverse is a beautifully rendered art nouveau plea for the protection of children in the medal's wartime setting. The subtly reflective argent obverse is enhanced by blue and gold highlights. Very attractive and a somber reminder of the challenges faced during the war.
