BRAZIL. 960 Reis, 1814-B. Bahia Mint. Joao as Prince Regent. NGC MS-61.
KM-307.1; Gomes-31.08. Overstruck on an 1807 Mexico City 8 Reales of Charles IV (KM-81). A wonderful Brazilian crown exhibiting a crisp strike and full mint luster. The ghostly remnants of the undertype remain clear enough to make a full attribution without muddling the lovely details of the overstrike. A pervasive steely-gray tone with hints of metallic plum covers the surfaces, lending the coin stunning depth and visual interest.
