Brownsville, Pennsylvania. Monongahela Bank of Brownsville. 18xx $5. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Proof.
(PA-40 G30) Plate B. 18__ Proof. No cancels. Printed on India paper and mounted to cardstock. Imprint of Draper, Underwood, Bald & Spencer. Central vignette of an allegorical female sitting with a large anchor holding a "5" shield. A pair of cameo heads are seen at each side. The bank began operations in 1810 and functioned in this capacity until 1864, when it then was absorbed into the Monongahela National Bank of Brownsville. This and one other are quite possibly the only two known.
