RI-300. Rhode Island. May, 1786. 40 Shillings. PCGS Banknote Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 PPQ.
No. 7429. Signed by J. Comstock, N. Knight and J. Hazard. Printed by Southwick and Barber. A new note to the T&P Census joining one other 67 each, from PMG and PCGS respectively. Like the other notes of this caliber from the final Rhode Island issue, jumbo margins, deep embossing and razor-sharp inking are the norm. While the four smallest denominations had blank backs, the denominations above 3 Shillings carried the denomination in an ornate frame on the back as well as the Printer's name and the warning - "Death to Counterfeit." Although no prior offerings of this exact note are available, recent results of similar notes suggest a value of $450-$600 to be in the ballpark.Due to the size and nature of this lot, additional shipping charges apply.
