"1814" Captain Lewis Warrington / USS Peacock vs. HMS Epervier Naval Medal. Julian NA-23. Bronzed Copper. Mint State.
65 mm. Beautiful mahogany patina with no post-striking defects of note. Error date on medal - the battle depicted on the reverse actually took place on April 29, 1814, not March 29 as the medal states. This example struck from a later state of the original reverse with prominent cud rim breaks centered on 4:30 and 10 o'clock. This reverse die remained in use until at least the mid 1880s.
