CANADA. Silver Uniface Concept Design 5 Dollars Pattern, "1976" (1975). Ottawa Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-62.
Montreal Olympics. KM-Unlisted. Diameter: 37.8mm; Weight: 15.2 gms. Fineness: 0.400. Series V, Diving, Unadopted Concept Design by Lynda Cooper. This interesting issue boasts a bold strike with well-formed design features struck on a single thick planchet. The font, like the other patterns from this series, is slightly thicker appearing to be closer together. The surfaces offer a brushed matte finished with a hint of golden tone near the edges of the reverse. A highly interesting piece from the design process that was ultimately rejected, though the featured stylized water to a lesser degree was used on the issued coins. This bright piece offers a pleasing appearance that is sure to pique the interest of advanced collectors and is thought to be the only known example of this design.
Ex: Estate of Derek Dawson, former Director of Products and Logistics, and Chairman of the Olympic Coin Design Committee.
