Montreal Olympics. 1) Series I, North American Map, slightly modified design. cf. KM-85 (for reverse design). Diameter: 38.1mm; Weight: 15.8 gms. Fineness: 0.250. PCGS SPECIMEN-61. 2) Series I, North American Map, unadopted design. cf. KM-85 (for reverse design). Diameter: 38.2mm; Weight: 15.9 gms. Fineness: 0.150. PCGS SPECIMEN-62. The design for this issue was done by Georges Huel. Each with single planchet thickness, thicker font and less defined details of the North American map lacking border lines between Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The unadopted design features "XXle" above Olympiade and "XXIst" above Olympiad not on the adopted design versions. Both exhibit light attractive tone with signs of handling consistent for the grade. Each with distinctly different finishes, the slightly modified design offers more matte surfaces while the unadopted design displays more of a brilliant sheen. An interesting pairing showcasing the evolution of the design process for this issue that are believed to be UNIQUE.
