Description

1900 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. JD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-4-. Proof-62 (PCGS). CAC. OGH.
Rich deep olive and more vivid orange-rose colors greet the viewer from both sides of this handsome specimen. Lightly marked and hairlined in the fragile fields, which is typical for the assigned grade, a couple of marks on Liberty's cheek and neck are also noted. An appreciably cameoed finish goes unmentioned on the old style PCGS insert. Of the 205 Proofs struck for this issue, certainly far fewer than that total can be accounted for today. An affordable example of a rare classic Proof gold issue, providing a nice opportunity for an alert collector.
PCGS# 7926. NGC ID: 288P.
From the Kohler Wisconsin Collection.

Estimate: $3150
