Description

Fr. 36. 1917 $1 Legal Tender Note. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ. Radar Serial Number.
Only two $1 1917 Legal Tenders are known with full eight digit serial numbers, that contain a two digit zero radar serial number, both of which are offered today. We note that the Abramson census of Fr. 36-39 shows eight eight-digit solid serial numbers extant, the most recent of which, the B99999999A sold for $25,000 in August 2018. While this note is not a solid serial number, knowing that only two of zero two digit radars exist, the solid serial # sale price will help put the value of this note into perspective. The only record of a sale of this note was 24 years ago on 08-20-1999 at a Lyn Knight auction as lot 884 where it realized $440. Our estimate may be wildly lower than the final hammer price on this trophy Gem Uncirculated note.
From the Issie Chaimovitch Collection of Radars.

Estimate: $1200.00- $2000.00
