Description

Fr. 1600. 1928 $1 Silver Certificate. PCGS Currency Very Choice New 64 PPQ. Fancy Serial Number.
This note kicks off a 33 lot offering of "Ten Million" serial numbers that is unprecedented in auction history. This collection contains by far, the largest assemblage of ten million serial numbered notes ever offered. While The Lunchbox Journeys Collection offered last September by the Goldbergs contained an impressive assemblage of 12 "Ten Million" serial numbers, it is dwarfed by today's offering. The consignor was the "market-maker" for this type of serial number. Today's auction provides collectors with a one-time opportunity to acquire many amazing examples that are all assembled for a single sale. This piece is arguably the rarest of this section of the auction. It is a pristine 1928 version of serial #10,000,000, and it just doesn't get any better than this. The Baeder census show the entire population he knows of $1 1928 to 1928E Silver Certificates with Ten Million serial numbers to be as follows: Only six ten million serial numbered $1 1928-1928B era Silver are known. (Interestingly the Baeder census shows 30 $1 1928 to 1928B solid serial numbered notes extant.) We note that a complete set of $1 1928 era solid serial numbers was sold at The Zeitmann Brothers auction, lots 1-9 for a total of $90,800 by the Goldbergs on 02-14-2022. There are a total of 36 known $1 1928 era solid serial numbers known. Comparing this with only six known Ten Million 1928 serial numbers and you quickly see the value in these ultra rare banknotes. 1928 $1.00 SILVER C10000000A 64PPQ USARARE 11-2009 1928 $1.00 SILVER K60000000A 40 STACKS/BOWERS 8-2023 1928A $1.00 SILVER V10000000A 64EPQ USARARE 3-2012 1928A $1.00 SILVER C10000000B ROBERT AZPIAZU 10-2013 1928A $1.00 SILVER Y20000000A CU LYN KNIGHT WILMORE 3-2014 1928B $1.00 SILVER G10000000B ROBERT AZPIAZU 10-2013
