GERMANY. Medallic Issues. Nuremberg. Baptismal Gold Medal of 3 Ducats Weight, ND (ca. early-mid 18th Century). NGC MS-64.
cf. Erlanger-2446 (2 Ducats weight); cf. GPH-4383 (same). Diameter: 28mm; Weight: 10 gms. Obverse: Baptismal scene; radiant dove above; Reverse: Legend in six lines; decorative scroll above and below; all within wreath. Extremely radiant and alluring, this enchanting specimen is about as close to Gem status as one can imagine, delivering a crisp, sharp strike, wholly appealing brilliance in the fields, and great intricacy to the legends upon each side.
