1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 20-N, W-4905. Rarity-4. Curved Plow Beam, Drunken Die Cutter, Wide Shield. VF-30 (PCGS).
148.1 grains. Choice medium brown with slightly darker toning at the peripheries. A really good looking piece, free of significant defects. A few little striations show up at the central obverse, where the striking pressure was least, and a bit of old encrustation clings around the right obverse periphery. This coin is really a nice one for the grade. Syd Martin bought the 2019 EPU coin, a nice PCGS EF-40. It brought $5,280 in 2019 and $5,160 in 2022.
