Description

Undated (ca. 1652-1674) St. Patrick Farthing. Martin 1a.2-Ba.14, W-11500. Rarity-7. Copper. Nothing Below King. AU-50 (PCGS).
99.1 grains. A particularly fascinating variety, using the same obverse die as seen on the unique gold St. Patrick's farthing. Beautiful glossy light brown with an expansive splash on a nice broad planchet. Aside from some planchet texture at the soft centers, the surfaces of this piece are essentially pristine. One unusual aspect is the three lined-up punchmarks that have been added post-striking to enrich the level of detail on the mitre. By wear and eye appeal, this is an unusually high grade specimen, perfect for a high grade type set.
PCGS# 915281.
From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.

Estimate: $10000
