Description

Sarasota, Florida. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 630. The First NB. Charter #10414. PMG Very Fine 25.
The First National Bank of Sarasota was chartered in June of 1913, and issued $64,750 during its operating tenure. The bank was liquidated on November 20th, 1923 and $12,500 was reported outstanding at close. Today, just two notes are reported to exist from the bank, according to Track & Price. This note last appeared in a 2017 public auction where it realized a whopping $25,850. The other known note reported in the census has not appeared at public auction, as it is on display in a currency museum in Florida. Both reported known examples are $10 Plain Backs. This comment-free example is sure to draw spirited bidding from seekers of rare nationals and die-hard Florida collectors. It may be sometime before this rarity comes back on the market publicly, so bid accordingly.
