Madison, Florida. $10 1902 Red Seal. Fr. 613. The First NB. Charter #7190. PMG Very Fine 30.
An elusive Madison County issuer, with just nine notes listed in Track & Prices census. This note last traded hands publicly in a 2010 auction, and is part of a consecutive run of four $10 Red Seals. According to Track & Price's census, this will be the finest third-party graded note to have been offered publicly from the bank. Last year, a PMG VF25 fetched $4,320 at public auction, so we expect this comment free VF 30 note to fetch a much higher sum. The First National Bank of Madison was chartered in March of 1904, and issued $903,500 before liquidating on the 30th of June, 1923. At close, $75,000 was reported outstanding. Given that the bank was liquidated 100 years ago this year, we cannot imagine too many new discoveries lingering out there, so bid accordingly if you want to take this treasure home.
