Fr. 2201-Clgs. 1934 Light Green Seal $500 Federal Reserve Note. Philadelphia. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.
Philadelphia $500 LGS notes are available in lower circulated grades, but uncirculated specimens are quite scarce. PMG has graded just 4 notes finer. Uncirculated light green seal $500s have become highly prized as awareness of their scarcity has become more widespread; consider that in March 2018 we sold a Philly 66PPQ $500 LGS for $11,500; in August 2021 we sold another Philly $500 LGS in 66EPQ for $25,200. The lone Philly 65EPQ in the population exceeded 5 figures way back in our August 2020 Sale, realizing $10,800. These record realizations for Philly $500 LGSs gems have put inordinate price pressure on the 5 Philly $500 LGSs graded choice uncirculated 64EPQ by PMG; Tonight's realization for our delightfully original note will undoubtedly confirm the sharp upward trajectory of prices for uncirculated LGS Philly $500s by establishing a new record!
