The 1896 $5 "Educational" note, designed by Thomas F. Morris and mostly engraved by G.F.C. Smillie, is widely regarded as one of America's most popular currency designs. The green back of the note features portraits of Civil War heroes U.S. Grant and Philip H. Sheridan, which were engraved by Lorenzo Hatch. This particular note exhibits excellent eye appeal, with vibrant colors and a fully original appearance. The embossing on the note is clearly visible even through the holder, adding to its visual appeal.
