Description

SC-147. South Carolina. April 10, 1778. 5 Shillings. PCGS Banknote Gem Uncirculated 66 PPQ.
No serial number. Signed by C. Pinckney, Jr. and J. Neufville, Jr. Phoenix with outstretched wings at lower left. The signature of Charles Pinckney, Jr. is of note here, as he was a signer of the U.S. Constitution, the 37 th governor of South Carolina (including the Colonial Governors dating back to 1670) as well as a Senator and member of the House of Representatives. While perhaps around a dozen Five Shilling notes from this issue have been graded, only one has cracked the barrier to 66 PPQ, making this note the highest graded from either service.
From the Mid-Continent Collection.

Estimate: $2500.00- $3500.00
