SYRIA. Seleukid Kingdom. Demetrios II Nikator (Second reign) 129-125 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (14.05 gms), Tyre Mint, dated SE 183 (129 B.C.). NGC MS, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Die Shift.
HGC-9, 1122; SC-2195.1B. Obverse: Diademed and draped bust right; Reverse: Eagle standing left on prow left; palm frond behind; to left, monogram above club surmounted by Tyre monogram; to right, monogram above ΓΠP (date); monogram between legs. A very boldly struck example, this Mint State stunner does exhibit the noted minor die shift on the reverse, but otherwise stands as an impressive and somewhat conservatively graded specimen with respect to its surface designation.
