1900 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-65 (PCGS).
Gorgeous rose-gold surfaces also possess full mint luster in a satin to softly frosted texture. Smartly impressed from the dies, the strike is razor sharp throughout the design. The 1900 has a generous mintage among Liberty Head five-dollar gold issues with 1,405,500 circulation strikes produced. Large numbers of these coins were exported, allowing them to escape the wholesale melting of U.S. gold coins on government order in 1937. Repatriations in recent decades have swelled the Mint State population to more than 10,000 coins, although upper end Gems such as this remain scarce from a condition standpoint.
