Perhaps the reverse with the shorter legend plated in Julian is the variant die? As with Wright's Henry Clay medal (Julian PE-8), it is not known for certain whether this type was struck in the United States Mint. Housed in the original black leather, bright red plush interior case. The case is tattered with a split spine, portions of the exterior edge missing or broken, heavy scuffing and chipping.
