1885 Gold Dollar. MS-67 (PCGS). CAC.
Solidly in the Superb Gem category, this exceptionally bright, golden-apricot example is lustrous, smooth and very appealing to behold. A razor sharp strike rounds out an impressive list of attributes for this low-mintage (11,156 circulation strikes) Type III gold dollar. Many of these were saved by contemporary numismatists, a common occurrence for low mintage gold dollar issues of the 1880s, although precious few have come down to the present day as well preserved as this Condition Census PCGS/CAC MS-67.
