Fitchburg, Massachusetts. $5 1882 Brown Back. Fr. 474. The Safety Fund NB. Charter #2153. PMG Very Fine 30.
A striking 1882 Brown Back $5 from the Safety Fund National Bank of Fitchburg, Mass. featuring the attractive and rare Circus Poster layout on the front. While some light folds are naturally visible, the paper quality remains very good and the overprints show rich color. Sharp pen signatures and four full margins add to the appeal of this note. The minor rust referred to by PMG appears to be a couple of almost imperceptible spots, well concealed within the ornate line patterns on the back. PMG comments "Minor Rust."
