Military Payment Certificate. Series 701. $5. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
S956-2 Second Printing. The great inventor Thomas Edison with a faint image of his first electric light is seen on the front of this final issue of the $5 MPC. An artistic rendering of Mt. Rainier dominates the back. The centering is about as close to perfect as possible, and the rich violet, green and iridescent effect seen on the note is most striking. PMG has graded only four notes above this Gem example. We recently sold a near twin of this note in our August 2022 sale for $1,920.
