1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-107a, T-31. Rarity-5. Two Leaves. Fine-15 (PCGS).
A handsome and richly original example of this scarcer die marriage of the 1795 Flowing Hair half dollar. Pleasantly toned in dominant silver and light pewter-gray, direct lighting calls forth vivid undertones of lilac-blue and pinkish-rose. The strike is nicely centered and well executed with all major design elements bold, the borders fully denticulated, and some sharper definition in the recesses of Liberty's portrait and the eagle. There are no significant marks for the assigned grade. At the Choice Fine level of preservation, it is difficult to imagine a more desirable example of the 1795 O-107a dies. Tompkins Die Stage 1/3.
