1866 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Proof-65 (NGC). CAC.
Warmly toned in dominant sandy-gray, more vivid apricot, blue and gold undertones flash into view as the coin dips into a light. Both sides are smartly impressed with some semblance of a cameo finish, again viewable at direct lighting angles. Conditionally scarce for a Proof 1866 silver three-cent piece, and of further significance given that the year's circulation strike is a key date issue with just 22,000 coins struck.
