Description

1794 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-9. Rarity-2. High-Relief Head. VF-20 BN (NGC).
Warmly patinated in autumn-brown. The detail is soft at the high points of Liberty's portrait, typical of the die pairing, and the right reverse border is worn nearly smooth with the word AMERICA only faintly visible. All other major design elements are bold for the grade, the obverse with a sharp, raised border. A shallow edge nick at 9:30 on the obverse and a dull mark at Liberty's ear are the only individually mentionable blemishes, most areas quite smooth for the grade. Manley Die State 1.0, with no trace of the obverse break that eventually develops at 9:30. Manley describes this die state as "Rare."
PCGS# 1003. NGC ID: 2223.

Estimate: $1500
