Description

1869-S Liberty Head Half Eagle. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC.
Impressive quality for the heavily circulated 1869-S half eagle. Bathed in warm orange-honey color, both sides retain bold definition to all major design elements. The all important S mintmark is sharp with an uncommon degree of finer definition. Simply put, this is a scarce issue in an absolute sense that is rare in grades above basal EF. Mint State examples are all but unknown, and this handsome Choice EF coin represents about the finest in quality realistically obtainable for many collectors.
PCGS# 8318. NGC ID: 25W8.
PCGS Population: 14; 24 finer, 2 of which are Mint State (MS-62+ finest).
From the Fairmont Collection - CAG Set.

Estimate: $2000
